Serendipity

Such a beautiful and whimsical word isn’t it? This enchanting word has been a running theme for me this week. It seems to be following me everywhere I go!

Serendipity is the occurrence of an unplanned fortunate discovery as defined via Wikipedia. The reason this word also deeply resonates with me is because ‘Serendip’ was an ancient name for Sri Lanka, my island home. It has mystical resonance to my roots and I feel truly connected to it.

Since I was a little girl, I’ve always (typically as an airy-fairy Libran) adored fairytales and stories with happy endings. I love the idea and delightful feeling you get when you get the opportunity to learn about fun, wild and free-spirited characters that go through tumultuous or challenging plots to in the end finally reap the rewards and live a life of happiness and abundance. The exultant tones and bright hues of the illustrations and visuals that depict these stories are also powerful in giving you the feels and soaking up the vibes of the narratives. But enough about fairytales, it’s time for some reality!

So why did I choose to write about happy accidental discoveries today? Well, the current cosmic climate leading to the January 10 full moon lunar eclipse indicates that we are certainly feeling the waves of the astrological shifts and movements. For me personally, I have been feeling a sense of heaviness energetically and feeling exhausted these past few days. I strongly believe that what is outside of us is also affecting what is inside of us. Never fear, this post is not about just doom and gloom.

This post is just a gentle reminder to continue to have faith in your fortunes this week! Think big picture. I have full assurance that we are being intentionally and divinely guided towards a magical destiny, specially and carefully designed for each and every one of us. Although today some feelings may run deep and impulses will run high, we need to stay calm and patient so we can slowly and surely reap the benefits of our newfound freedom that results from the happy and perhaps ‘accidental discoveries’ that await us. Sometimes mistakes and even poor decisions may realign us through our wondrous spiritual paths that are written out for us. Be gentle with yourselves and others! There’s always, always, always a reason for everything in this world. Look beyond what you see on the surface. You will know the underlying truth by the way it feels.

I hope you all have a serendipitous week and keep shining! I wish you kind and wonderful blessings and fairytale-like happy endings and new beginnings.

Stay blessed.

33 Laps Around the Sun

It’s my birthday month everyone! 33 laps around the sun and counting… and it has been one mammoth journey so far. Plus it’s a ‘palindromic’ age so it is bound to be a stellar year right?

I’ve been pre-occupied lately with my full-time work and part-time study and I have truly missed my reflective journaling sessions. I have been chasing my tail with a busy work and study schedule, stressed, anxious, bewildered and overwhelmed. It’s been an interesting few months (to say the least!) and I am slowly settling into my new lifestyle of juggling multiple commitments. It has been awhile since I have had a full plate of commitments so here we go again!

What has 33 laps around the sun taught me? Here are my top 10 insights from my journey thus far.

  1. The most important thing you can learn to do is to love yourself.
  2. There will (and in most cases) always be a tomorrow… but don’t let that stop you from starting something truly special today.
  3. Hold tight and treasure your closest family and friends. They will see you through the roughest and toughest times.
  4. Never take anything for granted. Every single moment is a blessing.
  5. Stay present always. In a heartbeat, everything around you can change, for better or worse. Live in ‘the now’.
  6. Adopt a learning mindset. There is always something new to learn. And you don’t know what you don’t know. Stay curious!
  7. Accept everything as it comes. Fighting fate won’t do you any favours. Everything passes in time.
  8. Trust your gut. It always knows. Always!
  9. Don’t compare yourself or your situation to others. Your own journey is unique and special. Don’t tarnish it with the pressures and expectations of others.
  10. Forgiveness is a superpower. Let go and let love.

I hope these lessons resonate with you in some shape or form and act as a reminder of how precious life truly is. I am excited to see and experience what the coming year has to offer and to embrace 365 days of newness. Bring on 2020!

Stay blessed.

Surrender

Here we are again… it’s Sunday evening and I’m sitting on my bed with my laptop and a cuppa tea in hand. As I reflect on the past week that has just gone by and prepare for the upcoming week that I’m about to embark on, I’d like to take the lessons that I’ve learned over the last seven days to serve me in the coming days.

Today I write about surrender. Why? Well this is a recurring theme that has shadowed me throughout some very significant events in my life.

Last night as I was on my way to a very special event that my friend had organised, I was alerted by a notification in my car warning me of tyre pressure loss. That meant I should’ve literally taken the warning seriously and pulled over to call roadside assist! Well, what did I do instead? I kept driving. I know most of you will think I’m crazy. But I did it anyway. I drove all the way to Blacktown and back home, a total of 42km with an almost flat tyre. Why? Because my intention was to make an appearance at this event and to pass my love to my friend and I knew I would be taken care of by the higher forces of life, the universe. So I surrendered.

I knew I had to surrender to the fact that anything could have happened in any moment. But I kept driving anyway! And I was prepared mentally to deal with the circumstances. I’m not sure what influenced my thoughts and my intentions last night as I drove what was an unreliable car at that point, but I felt so sure that I was protected and I would be ok.

Surrender for me is about learning to let go and let love. Surrender for me is about trusting the process. Surrender for me is knowing that divine guidance knows what is best for my highest good. Surrender for me is about allowing it to be. And so in every moment and situation, I like to do my level best to truly surrender. Being a typical control freak and perfectionist that I am, this appears to be a challenge sometimes at the best and worst of times. However, like learning to strengthen a muscle, I continue to implement this spiritual practice in my life and deepen my understanding about life itself.

Surrendering has taught me some really important and deep life lessons! It’s taught me about flowing peacefully with the energy force of the universe. It’s taught me about letting go of limiting beliefs and thoughts and opening myself up to the finest possibilities. It’s taught me how to keep breathing even in the midst of adversity and to grow through every moment. It’s taught me how to float freely and rise above challenging times. It’s taught me how to let go of judgment. It’s taught me to how to enjoy every experience and opportunity that is presented to me. It’s taught me how to return to love. It’s taught me how to celebrate the miracle of being.

So many lessons, such a simple practice. I have been deeply enriched by learning how to surrender and this learning deepens as I continue to lap around the sun. The power of surrender is not something you can put into words. The power of surrender is truly magical.

What has surrender taught you? I’d love for you to share by commenting below.

Stay blessed.

Passions Speak

I believe passion truly speaks through our pulses. It beckons us towards our purpose in life, our highest good.

We often forget how precious each and every moment is. My Sunday nights are usually spent reflecting, introspecting, and realigning to my visions and values. I spend my time thinking about what’s most important and plan my upcoming week doing and investing in those ‘things’.

What gets me so excited is when I think about opportunities, when I think about possibilities and what it would feel like to embrace new ones to help realise my dreams. You see, life can change in any moment. I like to remind myself how in a single moment, everything around me can change, my entire life can be changed forever. I’ve experienced this! Have you?

Life is not all about doom and gloom. There’s so much to celebrate! But it’s also important to stay grounded and recognise that things like natural disasters, illness, accidents, negative circumstances and life in itself can just “happen”. And you have no choice but to roll with it!

Having this foresight helps to keep me grounded! Knowing how vital and precious this moment truly is. This moment. Right now! And when I become present to this moment, everything around me feels alive! I become more passionate about my visions, my dreams, my feelings and life itself. Passion truly starts to speak through my pulses! It’s the shivers, the goosebumps and the hair raisers that physically remind me of the magical and sacred space that we live in. These experiences marry up the physical with the ethereal for me. This feeling is truly beyond the regions of this earth!

Now… what passions will you pursue this week? What pulses will push you to take the next step in investing in your dreams? Go on! Grab every opportunity and embrace change as that is the only constant in life. Keep evolving and watch yourself blossom!

Stay blessed.

It’s Time…

Wearing a golden yellow dress today has got me feeling uplifted and in tune with myself on a different level. It’s the little things. It’s amazing the power and impact that colour has on your health and wellbeing. Have you ever thought about that? I feel divine!

This brings me to write about today’s musings which is all about our energy.

Energy is really simple. We complicate what it is, by giving it labels, by trying to define it and by categorising it as something that is perceived to be almost somewhat tangible. The truth is, energy is simply experienced, felt and shared.

Have you ever walked into a room and felt that something was not right in that space? Have you ever met someone for the first time and they made you feel like you have known them forever? Have you ever leaped out of bed knowing in your heart that it is going to be an amazing day? Have you ever felt that the time is right for you to start or learn something new and unknown to you? I believe that you always know the truth by the way it feels. Always!

Your energy is truly contagious. The energy in every single being (whether it is animate or inanimate) is truly contagious.

This is why it is so important to stay connected to yourself. It is important to stay connected because this helps keep you in check and helps you vibrate at a higher level of frequency, attracting more of what you actually want in your life. Who can deny you of all the joy that is waiting to present itself to you?

Energy flows where your attention goes they say. So… it’s time to…

Stretch your thinking

Broaden your horizons

Expand your mind

Open your heart

Free your spirit

Raise your vibration

Amplify your energy

Your energy defines you. It all starts with you. It all ends with you. It is omnipresent. It is omnipotent. It is omniscient. Just like the universe!

How blessed are you?

Stay blessed.

Our Love

I like to keep things simple at the best and worst of times. It is the little things that really matter the most. I’ve learned that life has its own plans, timing and way of ‘happening’. Sometimes this perspective forces me to take the backseat and allow things to happen in its own time and place and in the universe’s terms, not mine.

There is only so much we can control in life. Sometimes we have to let go and let love take over. And it is true that it is hard to fully let go. We love having things and situations to happen in our own way and time. We expect so much out of life and people and situations. Expectations can also drive us mad. Expectations can be harmful to our health and stress levels.

So it’s time to stop. It’s time to breathe. It’s time to let go. It’s time to let love.

Love yourself most importantly. Love the people you treasure the most in your life. Love your job(s) and passions. Love your dreams and work on them, one step at a time even. Love the uncertainty of life and what blessings it may gift to you. Love your solitude and the wisdom that it brings.

Our love can change the world. We are all just walking each other home.

Stay blessed.

What I’ve Learned About People

It’s Monday. Every Monday matters.

It’s a new day. There’s plenty to learn. The opportunities are abundant. And in every moment lies new possibilities.

This excites me. This fuels me. This inspired me to write. Just now. So I am.

So… I have something to share with you. I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of new people recently. A lot. And it’s been a real blessing to have these opportunities to meet.

Living in this current technological era, connections are made easily available and are literally at our fingertips. This is true right? It’s just a matter of taking your time to connect with the right people, at the right time and that vibe with you for your highest good.

I have learned some significant lessons recently about people. And I’d like to share them with you as a reminder… just in case you have forgotten.

I’ve learned that…

  • People are different, every single person is different
  • People have their own needs and expectations
  • People have their personal intentions and are out to fulfill those for themselves
  • People are inspired by various aspects of life including things, places, situations, experiences and each other
  • People have their very own beliefs, and will usually stand by them
  • People fear, some fear a lot
  • People have desires, some are never ending
  • People need to be loved and cared for, that’s usually their highest need other than the essentials like food, water and etc.
  • People have feelings, and sometimes feelings are hard to read and can change over time
  • People learn, grow and change in every moment
  • People have the capacity to be compassionate
  • People like to give and receive
  • People are sometimes complex, sometimes simple, sometimes lost and trying to navigate their way in the right direction
  • People are wise
  • People have so much to share, most don’t even realise this
  • People communicate in so many different ways
  • People are sensitive
  • People like to judge
  • People remember, some remember everything and others remember little
  • People are wired differently
  • People have different values
  • People make mistakes, some big and some small
  • People are doing the best that they can
  • People need people

So why have I listed the above? Well, to remind myself about what I’ve learned recently really. I’m not here to tell you anything you don’t know. I’m here to remind you.

To be honest, life grounds me every time I think about what I have learned recently and these learnings and realisations dictate the way I treat and interact with others. It keeps me present. It keeps me true. It keeps me real.

Because of my recent encounters, I’ve learned to be more caring. I’ve learned to be more sensitive. I’ve learned to gauge feelings and sentiments with care. I’ve learned to respect others for who they are and what they believe in. I’ve learned to forgive. I’ve learned to let people be themselves and not how I want them to be or expect them to be. I’ve learned to be open. I’ve learned to better communicate. I’ve learned to accept. I’ve learned not to expect. I’ve learned that every single person is doing the best that they possibly can in that moment. I’ve learned so much about why people need people.

The next time you connect with someone, I encourage you to think about some of the above lessons that I’ve learned. And apply it to your own encounters and situations. It may in fact influence, change or determine the way you connect with them, keeping in mind some of these truths.

Our stories are nothing without people. People teach us so much, a wealth of information is built when you bring a group or even a couple of people together. Simply through sharing.

What will you share next? Who will you share it with? How will this improve your quality of life?

I am keen to know your thoughts.

Stay blessed.

Guided by a Beating Heart

We are all human. We make mistakes. We beat ourselves up. We live and learn. We sometimes fail. We often fall. We have fears. We experience sadness. We lack motivation. We think we are lost. We break promises. We are not perfect. Not now, not ever. We will never be perfect. Perfection doesn’t exist.

What keeps us connected to ourselves is our hearts. Our feelings. Our capacity to feel is infinite. We know the truth by the way it feels. Whatever that ‘it’ maybe.

Some days are rough. We feel disconnected. We experience the rawness. We are wounded. We can see the scars and the sight ain’t that pretty. We question everything. We fear the unknown. These days are difficult. Not only challenging, but also uncertain. So how do we feel connected again?

Well, let’s start by taking a moment. A moment to feel present. A moment to see where we are. A moment to check in on how we are. A moment to observe what is happening around us. A moment to focus on our breath. We are guided by our beating hearts. Because in every heartbeat, in every moment, life changes and evolves. This realisation is powerful. This realisation dictates how we move forward. This realisation is the truth. This brings us back to the present. It brings us back to ourselves. It brings us back to our power.

The simplicity of our existence is something that we don’t ponder about often enough. Everything is simple. Truly simple. However, we are so carried away with what is happening in our lives and wanting to control circumstances that we forget to stay connected with simplicity and as a result life gets complicated.

We don’t know where the journey is going to go or where this journey will end. What we do know is that there is light. There is possibility. There is change. There is the next moment. The next heartbeat. And with that life continues. We are constantly guided by our beating hearts. And grace. Keep soldiering forward. One heartbeat at a time. Let’s walk each other home.

Stay blessed.
